To achieve our climate target, we have to know where we are, where we are good and where not, how we are developing, which potentials we have, and what the next steps should be.

We use ecocockpit, an analysis software from EFA (Effizienz Agentur NRW) to generate our CO2 footprint analysis for the site so we can determine our status quo and define, trigger, and implement projects for emissions reduction.

While our site analysis previously included the emissions of the essential factors of scopes 1 + 2 in the cradle-to-gate assessment, we were able to analyze large areas of scope 3 as well in 2022 for the first time.

This is an important step on the path to climate neutrality which we want to achieve in 2045 at the latest.

As of 1/1/2022, Kabelschlepp changed its electricity supply from gray electricity to 100 % green electricity, reducing a large emissions factor from over 1,000,000 kg CO2℮ to 0 kg CO2℮.

Since October 2022, Kabelschlepp has been using a heat exchanger to make use of the waste heat from the injection molding machines and compressors. This means that all offices at the headquarters in Wenden-Gerlingen can be heated without the need for external resources.  We cover any additional demand with air-conditioning gas. We were able to reduce overall gas consumption by around 70 % during this period.
